The contact arose after a training session on accessibility and inclusion that we conducted last year in partnership with the Municipality of Gramado.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nThe purpose of the visit was to learn about the park&#039;s structure from an inclusive perspective, to evaluate the experience for people with disabilities\u2014especially autistic people\u2014and also to share practical suggestions that can make the environment even more accessible for all visitors.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Official website of NBA Park Gramado \ud83d\udd17<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nFor up-to-date information (tickets, schedules, access policies and news), we recommend consulting directly the\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbaparkgramado.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\r\nofficial website of NBA Park Gramado\r\n<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Admission policy for autistic individuals \ud83c\udf9f\ufe0f<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nOne important point we observed, and which is also available in \r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbaparkgramado.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\r\nofficial website of NBA Park Gramado\r\n<\/a>This is the access policy for autistic people:\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Autistic person with a companion:<\/strong> the autistic person receives <strong>free of charge<\/strong> and the companion pays <strong>half-price<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Autistic person without a companion:<\/strong> is applied to <strong>half-price<\/strong>, as provided by law.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nWe recommend that families confirm the rules and any required documents directly at [website\/location]. \r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbaparkgramado.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\r\nofficial park website\r\n<\/a>\r\nBefore the visit, as policies may be updated.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Accessibility features available \u267f<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nDuring the visit, it was possible to identify some features that contribute to a more accessible experience within NBA Park:\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Elevator to facilitate circulation between spaces;<\/li>\r\n<li>Availability of ear protectors for people with hearing sensitivity;<\/li>\r\n<li>Signage at reception informing about the use of the sunflower lanyard;<\/li>\r\n<li>A welcoming team open to dialogue about inclusion;<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Basketball backboards with adjustable height<\/strong>, facilitating the participation of children and also people with physical disabilities.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nWe know that, for many autistic people, factors such as loud noise, unfamiliar environments, or excessive sensory stimuli can directly impact their leisure experience. Therefore, measures such as providing ear protection already represent an important step forward.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Park structure and experience \ud83c\udfc0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nThe park features a large open space and various interactive activities, including a kids&#039; area, basketball games, and mascot interactions. There are also performances and shows as part of the park&#039;s entertainment offerings.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nFor families with children, especially those who need more space for sensory regulation, the spaciousness of the environment can be a positive factor, allowing for breaks between attractions and greater freedom of movement.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Suggestions for accessibility improvements \ud83d\udee0\ufe0f<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nDespite the positive aspects observed, we also identified some opportunities for improvement that could make NBA Park even more inclusive:\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Provision of an adapted chair for playing basketball;<\/li>\r\n<li>Installation of tactile paving on main routes;<\/li>\r\n<li>Tactile map at reception;<\/li>\r\n<li>Audio description features in shows or interactive experiences;<\/li>\r\n<li>Creation of a <strong>sensory room or regulatory space<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nDuring our visit, we did not identify the presence of a sensory room in the park. This type of space can be especially important during times of heightened stimulation, such as during the show, which features loud music and lighting effects.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nFor many autistic people, environments with loud noises and bright lights can cause sensory overload. Having a quieter place with less visual stimulation available allows the person to regulate themselves before returning to activities, making the experience more comfortable and accessible.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">The importance of accessibility in leisure.<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nWhen we talk about inclusion, we often think about the school or work environment. But access to leisure is also a fundamental right of people with disabilities.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nTheme parks and entertainment venues are part of social life, relaxation, and well-being\u2014and they need to be prepared to welcome diverse audiences.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nInvesting in accessibility doesn&#039;t just benefit people with disabilities: it improves navigation for all visitors, reduces anxiety, and contributes to a more positive experience.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Inclusive tourism is growing \ud83c\udf0d<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nInclusive tourism has been gaining increasing relevance in Brazil and around the world. This demonstrates that inclusion is not only aimed at the visiting public, but also at the work environment.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nWhen inclusion happens internally as well, it tends to be reflected in the service and experience offered to visitors.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 style=\"margin-top:30px;\">Our final rating \u2b50<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nThe visit to NBA Park was very positive. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, observed important accessibility features, and noticed an openness to suggestions for improvement.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nWe recommend the park for people with disabilities and their families, especially those seeking accessible leisure options in Gramado.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>\r\nAs always, each person has different needs.
