\ud83c\udfaa Circo Fantasy: our experience and analysis of accessibility for autistic people<\/h1>\r\n

\ud83d\udcc5 Date of visit:<\/strong> 09\/05\/2025 \u2013 Debut of Circo Fantasy in Novo Hamburgo (RS)<\/p>\r\n <\/header>\r\n\r\n

THE Fantasy Circus<\/strong> arrived in Novo Hamburgo with a meticulous production and high expectations. As we always do at Autistic Around the World<\/a>, we visited the show to evaluate the accessibility<\/strong> \ud83d\udc69\u200d\ud83e\uddbd\ud83e\udde9 for autistic people and other people with disabilities, to share our experience and suggest improvements that make the event more inclusive for all families.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83d\udcf2 First contacts and ticket purchases<\/h2>\r\n

Before the visit, I tried to contact you via Official Instagram<\/strong> and by WhatsApp<\/strong> of the circus, but I didn't get a response. \ud83d\udcac This is a point of attention: families with accessibility needs need an agile channel to better plan the experience.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83d\ude97 Arrival at the location and parking<\/h2>\r\n

We arrived on opening day (09\/05\/2025). Parking in front costs R$ 20.00<\/strong> and, unfortunately, \r\n there was no space reserved for PcD<\/strong> not even exemption. \u267f\ufe0f This already creates a physical and financial barrier for those who need accessibility.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83d\udeaa Priority entrance and queue<\/h2>\r\n

Even presenting tickets already purchased<\/strong> \ud83c\udf9f\ufe0f and mine CIPTEA<\/strong>, \r\n I was not offered preferential queue<\/strong>. Only my parents and my brother were able to enter through the front, and that was only because my brother \u2014 who was using the puzzle string<\/strong> \ud83e\udde9 and mufflers \ud83c\udfa7 \u2014 was more agitated and complaining. This shows that there is no official procedure<\/strong> preferential queue: it depends on the employee's interpretation at the time, which may leave other autistic people without the same guaranteed right.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83e\ude91 Internal organization and seating<\/h2>\r\n

Upon entering, they ask for your ticket again to confirm your section. \ud83d\udd01 It would be more practical to separate the sections while still in line, reducing crowding and anxiety. Seats are free within each section, and chairs are too close together<\/strong>, leaving very little room to move \u2014 something that can increase sensory overload.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u267f\ufe0f \u201cReserved seats\u201d for PcD<\/h3>\r\n

There are seats marked as PcD, but they are common chairs<\/strong> with adhesive\u2014without any real adaptation of the space. This limits the comfort and access of those who need it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83e\udde9 Sensory accessibility features<\/h2>\r\n

We did not find identification cord<\/strong> \ud83e\udde9, mufflers<\/strong> \ud83c\udfa7 for loan, \r\n reserved sensory space<\/strong> \ud83e\uddd8\u200d\u2640\ufe0f, differentiated service<\/strong> \ud83d\ude4b, \r\n audio description<\/strong> \ud83d\udd0a or tactile floor<\/strong>. There is a private bathroom \u267f\ufe0f, but it was dirty<\/strong> and paperless<\/strong> at the time of the visit.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83c\udfad The show<\/h2>\r\n

The show has started late<\/strong> \u23f1\ufe0f, but it was well executed. The artists are talented and the audience remained engaged.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83c\udf99\ufe0f Audio issues<\/h3>\r\n

During the clown's acts, the microphone failed<\/strong> and made it difficult to understand. A more rigorous technical test before the show could have avoided this problem.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\ud83c\udf1f Show Highlights<\/h3>\r\n

THE contortionist<\/strong> impressed when shooting bow and arrow with your feet<\/em> \ud83c\udff9\ud83e\uddb6.
